On December 6, 2012 Manti Te'o stood before an audience while accepting an award and said that his Girlfriend inspired him throughout his career but died from cancer.

On December 8, 2012 it was revealed that his Girlfriend never existed and according to Notre Dame's Investigation, Manti allegedly fabricated the whole story.
